‘’Let me go and ask my mother. I don’t think she will allow’’ cried Sameer.
‘’then let’s go to Sameer’s house and ask Kadeejumma about this’’ said Ahmed.
Three of them went and begged Kadeejumma to leave Sameer along with them to play on the beach. They usually goes but without Sameer. Kadeejumma was a worrying mother. But finally she allowed Sameer to go with them because his friends lied to her that they were going to play volleyball.
‘’Sameer, be careful’’ cried out Kadeejumma. She murmured her prayers and went inside her home.
On their way to the beach, they met Ansif and Nizar. They said about their plan and took a volleyball along with them to play for some time. The five friends reached the sea shore and started playing volleyball. They played for an hour and then Ahmed said aloud, ‘’it’s getting late, let’s get into the water and play and then go home. What do you say?’’ Everybody agreed except Sameer. They jumped into the foaming waves and started playing joyfully.
Sameer sat down on the beach and watched them playing in the water. He wanted to, but was afraid of his mother. Several minutes later, four of them went a little bit longer in distance. Sameer called them out but they ignored him. Ahmed, Rahman, Ansif and Nizar forgot that it’s getting late and swam flawlessly enjoying their bath.
A few moments later, between their adventurous games, Ahmed felt something is pulling him behind. He called out for his friends. They also started feeling the same. The force began to grow harder by time and became more powerful. They tried to swim to the shore but the monster in the sea pulled them harder than ever. ‘’ Hold on to each other. Never leave ones hand in any case and start swimming to the shore.’’ Commanded Rahman. Everybody held each other and tried their best to swim but the mighty waves came above them and brought them back again. Ahmed was the last one in the row and he couldn’t cope up with them because, water entered his body so much that he started to leave Nizar’s hand. He slowly stopped breathing and closed his eyes and was lost in the churning waves. Rahman, Nizar and Ansif finally made it to the shore. It was then Nizar said that Ahmed went missing in the middle of their escape. Rahman jumped again and searched; but his search was in vain.
Meanwhile Sameer gathered people and they took the three of them to the hospital. Rahman closed his eyes in the hands of some strangers thinking of his closest friend dying in the dark.
‘’Did you find Ahmed?’’ asked Rahman to the man standing next to him. ‘’yes. His body was found at the Kazhimbram beach’’
Rahman pulled himself together. He stepped out of the hospital room and saw Kadeejumma crying; hugging his one and only son, Sameer. Sameer and Rahman locked their eyes; their eyes wet, heart flowing with tears.
